Savings Goal Calculator
Turn a savings goal into a simple monthly timeline.
How the Savings Goal Calculator works
Enter your savings target, how much you have already saved and the amount you can contribute each month. The calculator estimates how many months it could take to reach your goal.
Example savings goal
If your target is £1,200, you already have £200 and you save £100 each month, you could reach your target in approximately 10 months.
This simple estimate excludes savings interest, inflation and changes to your monthly contributions. Your figures are calculated privately in your browser.

How much should I save each month to reach a target?
Subtract what you have already saved from the target, then divide the amount still needed by the number of months until your deadline. For example, £1,000 left to save over 10 months means £100 a month, before any interest. This calculator works the other way round: enter the amount you can afford each month to estimate the time needed.
If the monthly amount does not fit your finances, review your income and essential spending with the Monthly Budget Calculator. For annual bills and several separate goals, read our UK sinking funds guide and use the Sinking Fund Planner.
